According to a recent survey done by MarketingSherpa and Ad:tech, Pay per click advertising is the most preferred online marketing tactic for increased ROI. Around 1200 internet marketers were surveyed during this study and the findings of this survey are depicted below.
Some interesting facts arising from the survey are:
- 51% of the respondents say PPC delivers great ROI.
- Pop-ups and pop-unders top the list from below (only 9%)!
- E-mail marketing is ranked above SEOs. 44% of the respondents preferred the former, compared to 39% for the latter.
- Marketers spent substantially on banner ads in comparison to e-mail marketing, yet e-mail marketing ranks second in the table as compared to banner ads, ranked on the 9th position.
The survey sheds a great deal of light on the performance of various online marketing channels i.e. what’s working and what’s not. The survey findings assume great importance in the wake of downturn economy, when everyone is striving to derive the maximum out of each marketing dollar spent.
The survey findings can help you foster the best marketing mix, if not the perfect, to get maximum bang for each marketing dollar you spend.

Being the most preferred doesn’t really mean the best.
Quality is the key. Being in business is selling for 6 dollars what costs $3 and buying for $3 what would cost $6.
I am a firm believer of high design skills for a high ROI rate. Why? Because design isn’t just aesthetics, design is controlling the process of production of a good, from its concept to the moment it is on the buyer’s hands.
I don’t know anything that can replace the power of thousands, maybe millions, of users talking about your outstanding feature or product. This is the first kind of advertising I suggest for my clients, building strong online presence by interacting, influencing and being influenced by the user experience, not just shouting ads in websites/blogs that only drives for money and not for the greater good of web and its users.
