The holiday season is fast approaching and the shopping carnival is just about to begin. By now, most people across the globe probably have a ready list of things to buy for their friends, family and loved ones. Black Friday is inching closer and Cyber Monday is lurking around the corner.  These two events will official mark the ‘jump start’ of this year’s festive shopping spree. Both online and offline (brick and mortar) retailers are going all out to capitalize on this shopping extravaganza. But online retailers have an extra reason to cheer – the all new Google Product Search.

Yesterday, Google announced some of the recent improvements they have made to Google Product Search. Now, the timing for the launch of these changes coincides with the start of the shopping season and it would be anyone’s guess as to what Google is upto. You guessed it right – enhanced experience for online shoppers and a better way for online retailers to sell their products.

Some of the notable editions to Google Product Search are:

A. Gallery View: First up on the list is the gallery view (grid view) which now shows larger images having higher resolution. According to Google, this particular enhancement will help shoppers pick the right style or model. Larger and higher resolution images will give you a better sense of the look and feel of the actual product, and will bring closer to actually holding it.

B. Review Summary: It is always a good idea to check what other people are saying about the product you are about to buy. So before you hit the ‘buy’ button in haste, take a moment to check the product reviews. But if you have loads of shopping to do, you might want to stick to review summaries available just below the rating bar – Google likes to call it “reviews at a glance”. Additionally you can sort the reviews based on the star ratings by clicking on the relevant portion of the bar.

C. Shop Offline: If online shopping is not your cup of tea and you would rather buy the product from a brick and motor store, the “nearby store” location feature will come in handy. It will point you to the nearest retailer selling your desired product on Google map.

And that’s not the end of it. You can conveniently access all these features on your mobile making it a lot easier for you to shop on the go.

No doubt, the all new Google Product Search is a great improvement and a boon for online shoppers and retailers alike. So what’s stopping you? Go ahead and get great deals on the gifts you always wanted to buy for your near and dear ones.

Happy Shopping!
